2015

The first edition was a small test and hopeful experiment to see how many people would want to join. The response was exceptionally better than I had expected with 30 artists - 10 pre-selected and 20 application based - and the first book went off without a problem. There was even a physical book printed for the contributors as thanks (along with a choice of sticker sheets as a bonus).(Available here for free)
2017

The 2017 edition, themed Spooky, was the first book to be physically available to the public with 140 pages for 51 different artists; 25 preselects and 25 application participants, containing both a work in progress section and an essay discussing the origins of the Object Head genre. This edition is also the first time artists were paid for their pieces at a page rate of $100 CAD.Available for purchase here
2019

The book for 2019’s edition is themed Superstitions. It is a paid zine at $100 CAD page rate, same as 2017’s, and features 71 artists collaborating together to make 11 comics 59 illustrations. This book also contains a work-in-progress section in the back and the credits for this edition also included the origins for all of the superstitions illustrated in the book.Available for purchase here
2021

The 2021 Object Head Zine’s theme is Celestial Bodies: Space and Angels. It features 51 different artists with 9 comics and 41 illustrations. This book also contains a work-in-progress section in the back and the credits for this edition and had a successful Kickstarter to pay the artists an additional $50 CAD per page.Digital copy available for purchase here

2023

2023's edition is Historical Fiction, featuring 61 artists producing 53 illustrations and 7 comics. I wanted a nice variety of different cultures represented in this zine so I asked the artists to try drawing from their heritage if they wanted. This book also includes a work in progress section in the back as well as excerpts that explain the history/story behind their pieces. Artists were paid $100 USD per page.

2025

2025's edition is Fantasy and Magic - and I really wanted people to explore this theme a lot since it feels very broad compared to the previous themes. The mascots for this theme were a not so subtle hint to not pigeon hole into high fantasy. The book features 72 artists with 57 illustrations and 13 comics with a work in progress section in the back. The artists were paid $115 USD per page.

2016

With the success of the first book just completed, I was already planning the second right after with a theme: Food and Utensils. I decided to make the 2016 edition a free-for-all book where I accepted all submissions and it was another success with 64 pieces and 59 artists collected.Available here for free
2018

2018’s free-for-all edition - Flora and Fungi - had the highest participant count at 126 participants and 145 completed art pieces. It was the first one where artists from Japan, who did not speak much English, had the instructions translated to Japanese to participate in the book!Available here for free
2020

Science and Technology focused zine was admittedly a more tongue-in-cheek theme since a lot of the object head community loves TV and other tech headed characters. I wanted an edition for everyone to draw them in instead of being asked if a TV could be in a plant zine. However, there weren't a lot of that in this edition; there was a lot more variety than I thought there'd be. This book features 61 pieces drawn by 54 different artists.Available for free here
2022

2022's edition focuses on Classical Elements, which I wanted as an opposite yet similar topic to 2020's Science and Technology. This book features 44 art pieces from 36 artists.Available for free here
2024

2024 is the Anniversary edition of the zine, celebrating 10 years of the project! I wanted to reprise the first edition and made it more a grab-bag of themes where people can draw any object head they like. The only caveat is that they had to draw the zine's megaphone mascot Ashley in the piece somewhere. This edition features 32 art pieces by 31 artists.Available for free here
